“I think that’s something that’s very exciting for the franchise,” Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told the LA Times.
“I’m very excited about that, and I think it’s something we’ll definitely do, because it’s the right thing to do.”
The announcement comes a day after the company’s parent company Disney acquired Marvel Studios for $4.6 billion.
The deal was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
In a statement to the LA Post, Feige said, “We are very excited to partner with Marvel to make a new Spider-man film, and to bring this franchise to a whole new audience.”
The latest “Spider-Man” sequel is slated for release in 2019.
